Get Ready for Open Season Enrollment
With Open Season starting Monday, November 13, 2017, it's time to begin planning for the 2018 benefit period and your re-enrollment in FSAFEDS. Remember, enrollment in FSAFEDS is voluntary, and you must actively re-enroll each year; participation does not automatically continue from year to year.
Take a few moments to review your 2017 healthcare or child/elder care expenses. Simply look at your claims history at www.FSAFEDS.com. Then, estimate how much you'll need during the 2018 benefit period. Use our online savings calculators to determine your election.
Remember, the Health Care FSA allows you to carry over up to $500 of unused funds into the following year when you re-enroll and the Dependent Care FSA allows an extra 2 ½ months to spend your balance.
Explore Your Options
It's also a great time to consider all your FSA options and explore thousands of eligible expenses. Keep in mind, Open Season is also the only time you can make changes to your FSA, unless you've had a qualifying life event (PDF). Understand all the ways to use your FSA and maximize your savings in 2018!
Decide the Best Reimbursement Option
If you're re-enrolling in a Health Care FSA, consider which reimbursement option is best suited for you: auto reimbursement or the pick and process option. You'll be asked to choose one during the re-enrollment process, if your insurance plan participates.
